نویسندگان: خلاصه: Es un motivo de alegría y un buen síntoma de preocupación por la ciencia el poder prologar, por fin, el diario del botánico Juan Isern Batlló, miembro destacado de la Comisión Científica del Pacífico (1862-1866) y mártir romántico de la ciencia española. Además, creo que ha sido un acierto de las autoras, dos de ellas descendientes del ilustre naturalista, el dar a conocer dicho diario de forma novelada, aunque ajustada a la realidad de una manera escrupulosa. Resulta conmovedora la imagen que uno puede representarse del botánico, en el último momento de su corta vida, recordando su propia trayectoria vital, desde aquel pequeño pueblo de Setcases hasta los momentos más difíciles e intensos de su viaje por el río de las Amazonas. La tarea que se han propuesto las autoras del libro no era fácil, ya que, según creo recordar, los apuntes de Isern conservados en el Real Jardín Botánico eran algo caóticos, en tanto que los fragmentos del diario eran excesivamente botánicos y escuetos, algo que hace merecedora de elogios la obra emprendida con la publicación que tenemos ante nosotros.
